AR Rahman explains why Prithviraj’s Aadujeevitham didn’t qualify for the Grammys

Oscar award-winning AR Rahman, in a recent interview, explained that actor Prithviraj Sukumaran and director Blessy’s Aadujeevitham (The Goat Life in English) didn’t qualify for the prestigious Grammy Awards. When Rahman submitted the film for the Grammys, it was rejected as the soundtrack was one minute less than the stipulated time set by the organisers.
The composer, while speaking to Connect Cine channel, was asked when the next Grammy and Oscar would come from him. Explaining his stance, the composer said, “My picture was not to win anymore. But, it could be. We are submitting from now. I am doing music with the Better Band. There are so many tick boxes for Grammys.”
Speaking about Goat Life, he said, “I did Goat Life for Blessy. We released four tracks and because it was one minute less or something, it didn’t qualify for the Grammy entry. People loved the soundtrack of that album. That could have…”

He also recalled that he did not submit Ponniyin Selvan: Part 1 and Part 2 for the Grammys. “I don’t think I put PS 1 and PS 2 for the list last year. I don’t think we entered that one. It’s all about things coming together,” he added.
AR Rahman won the National Award for Best Music Director (Background Music) for director Mani Ratnam’s Ponniyin Selvan: Part 1. He received the award from President Droupadi Murmu in New Delhi on October 8.
On the work front, Rahman’s last project was Dhanush’s second directorial venture, Raayan. He will be seen next in Chhaava, Thug Life, Gandhi Talks and many more films in multiple languages.
